respondents on the level of adaptation of digital technology by SMEs in the Federal
Capital Territory (FCT) and the influence of digital entrepreneurship on sustainable
development in Nigeria. The study found that SMEs in the FCT actively espouse digital
technologies to the operations of their businesses and that the adaptation of digital
technologies by SMEs in the FCT have grown from 30 percent in the last three years to
about 70 percent in 2023. Another important finding is that the use of digital technology
has high prospects to significantly contribute to the attainment of long-term goals of
entrepreneurs desirous of creating social and environmental value through innovative
business models. Empirical evidence from this study points to the efficacy of digital
entrepreneurship as the driving force behind the rise, growth and sustenance of SMEs,
the engine of development of any nation. This study therefore concludes that digital
entrepreneurship is a viable option for engendering sustainable development in
Nigeria. The study recommends that given the importance and potentials of digital
technologies to sustainable national development, government at national and subnational levels should create the enabling environment through the provision of
functional and accessible infrastructure necessary for SMEs to easily adopt digital
technologies in the running of their businesses.

DETERMINANTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY DISCLOSURE
Abstract
This study examined the determinants of environmental sustainability disclosure. The
broad objective of the study was to examine whether board size, board gender diversity
and ownership concentration determine environmental disclosure of listed oil and gas
firms in Nigeria. Data were collected from published accounts of studied firms using the
purposive sampling technique to select a sample size of eight (8) oil and gas firms for
the study. The log-linear regression analysis was used to analyze the data obtained.
Findings revealed that board gender diversity and ownership concentration have
significant effect on environmental disclosure of listed oil and gas firms in Nigeria. The
study concludes that concern of environmental disclosure in the financial statements of
firms is fundamental and imperative. It is indispensable that the activities of the firm in
the environment in which they operate in terms of finance are well documented and
accounted for the users of the report to evaluate. The study recommends that size of the

EFFECT OF EXCHANGE RATE MOVEMENT ON THE NEXUS BETWEEN PUBLIC- PRIVATE INVESTMENT AND ECONOMIC GROWTH IN NIGERIA
Abstract
This paper investigated the effect that exchange rate fluctuations can engender upon the
linkage between public- private and economic growth. Data on public investment (Gross
Fixed Capital Formation-Public) and private investment (Gross Fixed Capital
Formation- Private) along with the exchange rate were sourced from World
Development Indicators (WDI) 2020. The study adopted the Auto Regressive Distributed
Lag (ARDL) model for its estimation techniques. The result shows no significant impact
of exchange rate fluctuations on both the private and public investment for the study
period in the long and short runs. However, the public investment has a negative and
statistically significant relationship with economic growth in the long run as well as in
the short run. The Federal Government of Nigeria is advised to increase infrastructural
investments as a means of correcting the negative trend and come out with far reaching
reforms on institutional corruption

DOES FOREIGN OWNERSHIP AND FOREIGN BOARD MEMBER IMPROVE THE QUANTITY AND QUALITY OF SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING AMONG NON-FINANCIAL LISTED FIRMS IN NIGERIA?
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of foreign ownership and
directorship on sustainability disclosures of non-financial listed firms in the developing
countries. Sample consisted of 30 firms across the seven sectors of non-financial listed
firms in Nigeria, covering a period of 5 years, 2016 – 2020. Analysis of data collected
was carried out from three perspectives, first content analysis of sustainability quantity
and quality disclosures by the sampled firms, using 97 indicators based on the GRI 2016
standards was carried out, with the 30 firms divided into two, firms with and without
foreign ownership and directorship. The result was analysed using t-test to determine
whether there was a significant difference between the means of the two groups. Then
correlation between sustainability disclosures and foreign ownership and directorship
was determined. Finally, an ordinary pooled regression analysis was carried out to
determine the effect of foreign ownership and directorship on sustainability disclosures.
T-test results showed positive significant difference between sustainability reporting
quantity and quality disclosures of firms with and without foreign ownership and
directorship. It was also found that sustainability quantity and quality disclosures were
positively correlated with foreign ownership and directorship. Furthermore, the
regression analysis showed that foreign ownership has a positive significant effect on
sustainability quantity disclosure at 5% (0.150) but an insignificant effect on
sustainability quality disclosures. Foreign directorship has positive significant effect on
sustainability quantity and quality disclosures at 1% (9.731) and 5% (6.466)
respectively. It is recommended that sustainability reporting should be made compulsory
by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, having adopted the first two standards
issued by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).

LEVERAGING INDIGENOUS HEALTH MEDICAL PRACTICES TOWARDS PROMOTING HEALTH COVERAGE IN SUB- SAHARAN AFRICA
Abstract
Historically, human beings are confronted with various illnesses and diseases that
adversely affect their health and general wellbeing. Realizing this scenario, different
communities across the world are known for various indigenous knowledge and
practices, considered as necessary for promoting, supporting and sustaining specific
healthcare needs of people. Today, sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) is faced with low health
coverage. This is attributable to many factors, which include lack of political will on the
parts of those that are saddled with governance, urban biased health policy, poor health
facilities, corruption and mass poverty, among others. Using a literature review, this
article argues for the use of indigenous health systems as avenue for optimizing health
coverage in the subcontinent. Functionalist theoretical approach with specific reference
to Talcott Parsons AGIL model is employed to provide the theoretical argument of this
paper. Considering the trajectory and issues surrounding health coverage and the array
of indigenous knowledge in the subcontinent, the paper concludes that appropriate
mechanisms should be put in place such that indigenous health knowledge and practices
capable of promoting health and wellbeing of people should be optimally utilized to scale
up the health coverage in the sub-region.

LIGHTING CONSIDERATIONS FOR A FASHION HOUSE
Abstract
The study investigated the use of lighting in Nigerian fashion houses. This is built on the
observation that most fashion houses are not purpose built. This leads to poor use of day
light usage; necessitating the use of artificial lighting which often increases their cost of
production. Aside from the effect of poor utilization on the operational cost of fashion
houses, it has consequential effect on the wellbeing of staff as well as the quality of
materials produced. In view of these shortcomings, the study adopted a case study
approach to examine how fashion houses in developed economies have been able to
incorporate day light strategies in their construction plans. The study examined three
global fashion houses namely; Vionnet’s historic building, CafèModa, and Monsoon
Flagship Store. From the analysis, it found that the use of day light strategies improved
users experiences as well as reduce operational cost at Vionnet’s historic building.
Similarly, the louvre system adopted at CafèModa enhanced users’ ability to control the
light penetration depending on times and demands. This enhanced staff productivity as
well as reduced expenses on electricity bills. Lastly, at Monsoon Flagship Store, it was
found that skylight strategy was used. In as much as it guaranteed the penetration of
solar energy, it was found that it could generate heat which could threaten the quality
of fabrics used in clothe production. From these findings, the study concluded that Day
light not only offers an aesthetically pleasing effect within a space but it also allows for
interiors to be well lit free of charge throughout most parts of the day according to the
seasonal variations. However, its usage must be within the ambience of industry and
environmental regulations.

EFFECTS OF INCENTIVES ON PASSIVE DESIGN STRATEGIES BY GOVERNMENT IN ENHANCING SUSTAINABLE BUILDING PRACTICE.
Abstract
The building industry, projected to grow at 4.2% annually between 2018 and 2023, has
become a formidable pollutant causing climate change that compounds environmental
loads. Cities can be said to be “crucibles of hazards” due to several environmental
challenges particularly that of fossil fuel’s pollution. A growing consensus among
organizations committed to environmental performance targets appropriate strategies
to make building activities more sustainable. This paper aims to assess the effects of
incentives on passive design strategies in enhancing sustainable building practice.
Questionnaire design, employing qualitative strategy was adopted. Study population of
Southwest Nigerian architectural firms was 553 as published by ARCON in 2021.
Sample size was 170 firms using Cochran’s formula with confidence level of 95 percent.
The multi-stage sampling was used. Data for research were analysed using Exploratory
Factor Analysis (EFA). Result revealed different types of incentives that government can
offer to enhance sustainable building practice among construction stakeholders. Result
also confirmed that rigid-regulatory approach to incentives does not encourage their
uptake among construction stakeholders where available. Study recommends that
government should enhance sustainable building process by introducing one or more of
the forms of incentives, evaluating their preferences with respect to the form of incentives
relative to projects to be executed, available resources and time.

PUBLIC PRIVATE DIALOGUE: AN INNOVATIVE POLICY APPROACH TO HOUSING DELIVERY IN LAGOS STATE.
Abstract
Public Private Dialogue (PPD) is an institutional arrangement that engages the public
and private sector in discussions to resolve issues. These dialogue sessions may last for
a few hours or continue for several months or years until an inclusive policy is
formulated. This study focused on public-private dialogue in housing policy formulation
in Lagos State. It explored how PPD can create increased housing delivery through
innovative changes in policy formulation. Studies show that proactive public and private
sector engagements create better opportunities for housing policy formulation. The
government should intensify efforts and create opportunities for private participation in
discussions through town hall meetings and dialogue sessions to formulate workable
housing policies and reforms that will help actualize the housing needs of the citizens.
The study employed selective sampling. Data was obtained through administered
questionnaires on a population of 150 household heads in IKorodu on how involved they
were in formulating Lagos State government housing policies. The data collected was
analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results show that State housing policies were
designed through public sector initiatives with little or no input from the private sector.
The study further revealed that institutions that adopt the PPD approach in their
engagements and operations have higher staff motivation and increased productivity.

IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON APARTMENT DESIGN ADAPTABILITY, LAGOS, NIGERIA.
Abstract
Adaptability characteristics of the apartment design is recognized as a main factor
affecting the different social uses of apartment space in a variety of ways without making
physical changes. Emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic is speculated to affect the
interrelationship between the apartment users and social uses of apartment space. This
study aimed to investigated the impact of post Covid-19 on apartments design
adaptability of Lagos State Property Development Corporation (LSDPC) in Lagos,
Nigeria. A survey methodology was adopted. The LSDPC largest estate (Abesan Estate)
was purposively selected. The study relied on a sample frame of 4272 apartments from
which 7.5% (320) of sample frame was used as sample size. Systematic random sampling
of apartment was employed. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics;
involving tables. The findings revealed that the level of effect of Quarantining, SelfIsolating, and Physical Distance on Adaptability Characteristics during Covid-19
pandemic was significant. Self-Isolation was the most significant direct effect on the
Adaptability Characteristics, followed by Physical Distance and Quarantining. This
implied that the design of the apartment needed to meet the dynamic nature of the users
as well as a usage for planning purposes. The study affirms that the possibility of quick
interchangeable use of space to perform different functions without making physical
change should be a primary focus of future research.
